Menu bar · IMAP · macOS
The lightest way to watch your mail.
digoMailCheck is a featherweight menu bar companion that watches your IMAP inboxes in real time and shows the count exactly where you already look.
macOS 14 or later · IMAP only · No tracking
At a glance
One red number. That is the whole interface.
No app to open, no inbox to scan. The unread count lives on your menu bar and keeps itself current. New mail slides in as a notification with sender and subject.

IMAP IDLE
Real-time push, not polling.
digoMailCheck holds an IMAP IDLE connection open, so a message shows up the instant the server has it - not on the next scheduled check. Where a server will not IDLE, it quietly falls back to polling on your interval.
- IDLE
Connection kept open
One TLS connection per watched folder, parked in IDLE and waiting.
- PUSH
Server announces new mail
The server sends EXISTS the moment a message lands. No timer, no delay.
- BADGE
The count updates
A quick UID SEARCH UNSEEN, the badge changes, a notification appears.
Accounts & folders
Every mailbox. Every folder. One icon.
Add as many accounts as you like and pick exactly which folders to watch - each on its own real-time connection. The dropdown breaks the count down per account and per folder.

Private by design
Your passwords never leave the Keychain.
It watches your mail; it never becomes your mail. digoMailCheck reads only what it needs to count the unread.
-
Keychain, not config files
Passwords are stored in the macOS Keychain, protected by an access list that trusts only the app.
-
IMAP and nothing else
No OAuth handoff, no web dashboard, no companion service. Classic IMAP over TLS.
-
No external dependencies
Built entirely on Apple system frameworks. Nothing third-party is bundled or phoned home.
-
No analytics, ever
No accounts, no telemetry, no tracking. What you watch stays on your Mac.
Works with
Bring your own provider.
Presets fill in host and port for the usual suspects; anything that speaks IMAP works too. Gmail and iCloud use an app-specific password.

Quiet by default
A calmer inbox starts in your menu bar.
Small enough to forget it is running. Reliable enough to trust it.
